After 10 years fast development, the XJTLU library is now recognized as a student centered, research-led academic library receiving very high satisfaction rate in every user survey each year. With the rich digital resources and the user friendly space opening even during holidays, students, faculties and staff member of XJTLU are now having access to the library at all the times. Thinking forward about the next 10 years, the Library is now strategically implementing its new model “LAMP” and “Be SMART, Be SURE” as new concept.

To serve as the lighthouse for guidance in the vast ocean of information, the library is expanding its function to LAMP which includes Library, Archive, Museum and Publisher. The librarians will focus on five core tasks to actively respond to the complicated environment and requirements of rapid reformation. The five core tasks are:

Service: Student-centered, innovative and professional services
Management: Strict budget constraint operation and objective orientated management
Accumulation: High quality and unique resources
Research: Focus on the advanced development, deeply explore the profession, research-led work
Teaching: Educate students to be armed with capabilities for their future success

In the Internet era with flooding information, we devote ourselves to the teaching and training of information skills and critical thinking to faculties and students, to help them to be “SURE” which includes:

Search: Find out the accurate and trustful information quickly
Utilize: Know how to use and manage information efficiently
Rethink: Critical thinking with an academic approach
Evaluation: Evaluate the credibility of information properly.

With launching this newsletter, we are proud and pleased to share our very dynamic and diversified activities and achievements with all member of XJTLU. And we hope this newsletter will also facilitate the communication and increase the awareness of library, its services and resources.
