Happenings @ Your Library 2017: Collection Development

Establishing Cooperation with Three Bookstores in Suzhou

1

The XJTLU Library Book Purchase Site Licensing Ceremony was held successfully last month (on 12 May, 2017) in the library. The University Librarian licensed for three popular bookstores in Suzhou. They are the Eslite Bookstore (苏州诚品书店), Phoenix Bookstore (凤凰苏州书城) and Guanqian St. Bookstore (观前街书城). The three bookstores will serve as the Library Book Purchase Site where all staff can order books for library by staff card during their business hours.

EZproxy – An Easier to Access Digital Resource Base

From the end of May, the library started to use a new user authentication tool to replace VPN, it is EZproxy.

EZproxy is the tool that lets XJTLU library users to access databases, ejournals, and ebooks from off-campus using a XJTLU account and password. When you are on-campus (either on a campus computer or the wireless network), library databases and publishers recognize a campus IP address and know that you have permission to use subscription library resources. But, since our databases and publishers are only licensed for XJTLU students, faculty, and staff, they need to have a way to verify that an off-campus user is legitimately affiliated with XJTLU. EZproxy is the tool the XJTLU library use to verify that someone is an authorized library user.

In general, you do not need to do anything other than find the resources you want from library databases and click on the link.
