Three exhibitions had been held in the library

The Library had held three exhibitions recently, included environmental photograph exhibition which was carried out by the Green E club and photograph exhibition of Suzhou universities united, by the Photography Association. Another exhibition was a coursework exhibition on 3D Printing- Hairpin and Eyewear from the Department of Industrial Design. Many students participated in the exhibitions, engaging with environmental issues and appreciating the 3D printing.

The library will hold all kind of exhibitions on the 1st floor to improve the art atmosphere of the campus culture, and also welcome to support and provide assistance to academic departments and students who would like to have an exhibition here.



iStudents, a member of iStaff, became a lecturer to share his knowledge of Excel VBA.

The iStaff is a committed team of young leaders who are playing a critical role in the delivery of goods, services, and programs throughout the entire school community. The iStaff includes, UGs, PGs, PhDs and Non-locals who seek out and accept the opportunity to work as part of a leadership crew facilitated by the library.

Hang DONG, a Year 1 PhD student majoring in Computer Science and Software Engineering, and a team member of iStaff, gave a lecture on how to use Excel BVA at 7pm on 8th May, titled: how to design Excel VBA programmes from scratch. The lecture took place in the circular meeting roon G17W, lasted about 1.5 hours and attracted more than 70 attendants from all years of UG and PGs. Audience feedback was very positive.

The iStaff program successfully takes the lead of the students in the areas they feel the most confident in and challenges them in their weaker areas. Students work in teams, tap into each other’s strengths, and strive to get the projects done.

Our associate librarian Linlin Lu gave a speech to our students, which named Photoshop Text Effects Training for Beginners. The lecture was successfully held at 2pm on 10th May, and attracted more than 30 students. Audience feedback was very positive.

We always invite skilled staff to share their knowledge with our students, for example we had another associate librarian Min WANG gave a lecture on the basic use of Excel last semester, and we had Linlin this semester. Through this way, not only we provide various and diverse choices to students to obtain skills and knowledge, but we also urge our staff to enhance themselves.



Library Student Committee Meeting held on 17th May 2017


The third Library Student Committee Meeting was held at Room 303 on 17th May 2017. 7 Student Representatives and library staff members engaged in constructive dialogue and feedback on Library new policies and services such as Library Reward Point, Visiting Guideline and Library Opening Hours on Public Holidays. They work actively together to find solutions to any problems encountered.

Library Student Committee Meeting has a purely communicational and advisory function, providing an official forum for students to discuss current issues relating to the Library polices and services at XJTLU. It is responsible for keeping the students informed of major issues and for creating opportunities for the students to discuss priorities.



Library provides warm exam service


The XJTLU Library is rolling out the “Tricks to help with exam stress” and “Top tips for exam week” to assist students during their exam revision using library resources. This is done by: 1. Extending library opening hours to provide the study needs for students in preparation of the final Examination.2. Giving students some warm prompt to improve their learning efficiency.3. Providing an interesting activity-Get a lucky ticket in the library: Any student who finds a lucky ticket in the library is entitled to get an energy supplement at the circulation desk on the 3rd floor.

The exam week actives aim to assist students through finding a balance between studying, resting and a nice environment to meet examinations requirement. This exam services are provided in order to enhance on embodying the library customer-focused service concept and creates a civilized and harmonious campus atmosphere.
