On October 27th, a symposium entitled "Open Access Trends, Opportunities, and Challenges" was held at XJTLU. More than 100 experts and scholars, representatives of the publishing industry, library staff and college teachers and students attended the on-site meeting, while the online live of this event attracted nearly 1,000 people to watch through the network. In this multi-party dialogue platform, the representatives discussed about Open access’s development, trend and impact on various groups and its challenges.
DEPUTY DIRECTOR, Centre for Knowledge and Information and University Librarian of XJTLU Dr. Bi Xin said that this is the second consecutive year for XJTLU Library held an open access seminar, we aim to promote the open access awareness and the sharing of knowledge and scientific research among Chinese academic community including the teachers and students in XJTLU.
This symposium is co-sponsored by the International Publishers Copyright Protection Coalition (IPCC), Taylor & Francis Publishing Group and XJTLU, the whole event is a registered part of the International Open Access Week.
In this symposium, the world's top four academic publishers, Springer, Elsevier, Willie and Taylor Francis all attended the meeting with Charles Greenberg, director of the Library at the Wenzhou-Kean University; Tom Olijhoek, editor-in-chief of Director of Open Access Journal (DOAJ); Prof. Jingli Chu, Dean of the Publishing Center from the CAS Library, and other Chinese and foreign guests, delivered an important lecture on open access issues.
XJTLU Museum has updated the XIPU SHOW APP on Museum Official WeChat platform and installed 29 XIPU Show Campus Signs in north and south campus. Internal and external visitors can obtain detailed information about XJTLU and its buildings, scenery sites and culture elements through scanning the QR code with mobile devices.
