The Library Online Courses “Popular Style Poster Production by Photoshop” and “To Be an Effective Autonomous Learner “Successfully Held


In order to better support our students’ learning and enrich their life at home under the COVID-19 Pandemic, a total of 8 sessions of online courses were held successfully by Library from 13th April to 12th May 2022. These courses focused on a poster design by Photoshop and autonomous learning, taught respectively by Mrs. Sunruo Wu and Mr. Li Lu from Library User Service Division.

Positive feedback was received from students after the courses. They learned skills and reduced learning anxiety during the special period.


Living Library Webinar Held Successfully


On 18th May, the 31st Living Library with the theme “From One to Infinity” was successfully held online. This time, XJTLU Library invited three “living books”, namely Yangyang DING, Yunfan CHEN, and Wenlan XIONG, to share their personal stories with XJTLUers. Their topics are Meditations on the Epidemic, Youth Leadership in the VUCA World, and Jump into the Serendipity of University Life.

The webinar lasted for one and a half hours and the participants were very enthusiastic. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed our lives, it gives us more time to read and think, try something different, and discover our true self. We believe that those looking for new opportunities will find ripe opportunities in the future.


GO READING on Little Women Held Online


On 8 April, the 15th session of Go Reading was held online by XJTLU Library and Reader Association. The book to read this time was Little Women by American author Louisa May Alcott.

The meeting consisted of three parts - book introduction, dialogue interpretation and group discussion. Yixuan Wang, as the host of this meeting, first briefly introduced the novel, the main characters, and the author's life. In the second part, several participants read dialogues from the book playing different roles. Group discussions were then carried out on the 4 topics of "touching moments", "Overcoming shortcomings", "family education" and "facing difficulties".

Despite the pandemic, the participants experienced the charm of classic literature and gained many interesting ideas by reading and sharing online.


XJTLU Library Reading Month 2022

 

XJTLU Library launched its fourth reading month in April. The theme of the Reading Month 2022 was “Self-Care and Positive Thinking”.

Reading Month 2022 was marked by a rich and diverse calendar of engaging activities that motivate the XJTLUers to read and think. The activities consisted of 8 online events (One Tweet, One Book, One Line, Go Reading, Vote for Your Favorite Works, Post My Cloud Playlist, Explore Your Major, World Intellectual Property Day Events) and 8 training sessions of 3 courses (Searching Professional, Let's PS Together, To Be an Effective Autonomous Learner under COVID-19 Pandemic).

The Reading Month 2022, with hundreds of people participating in the activities, established a reading culture during the special period and presented the Library’s continuing support for the students and staff members.


XJTLU Library Held Defeat the Pandemic Events Online

 

In order to enrich reading life and develop the positive attitude of readers during the COVID-19 prevention and control period, the XJTLU Library organized the Defeat the Pandemic events on social media. The events, including Share Your Reading Notes and Give Voice to Your Favorite Books, received continuous attention and good feedback from readers.

Since the Defeat the Pandemic events were released, library has received a total of 48 reading notes and 30 audio recordings of books from XJTLU staff and students. In the meantime, the Library has selected some excellent entries to share on the Library WeChat platform, hoping to encourage students to read more books and find pleasure in reading.
