Editor and XJTLU Researchers Shared Experience in Scholarly Communication

1

On October 23rd , the XJTLU Library hosted the Scholarly Communication Seminar, attracting an audience of nearly 100 teachers, postgraduates and senior undergraduates who are interested in publishing in journals and books, or maximising their research impact.

The guest speakers include Joe Ng from Cambridge University Press (CUP), Prof. Johannes Knops from Department of Health and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Huiqing Wen from Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Dr. Xin Bi from Center for Knowledge and Information. The guest speakers talked about popular topics in scholarly communication, including academic publishing, research impact, open access, and effective management of references. The Library also arranged a small-scale display of the newly-launched XJTLU Research Repository and the research impact of XJTLU’s published papers, which got the audience involved in discussion with librarians during the half-time break.

There was great enthusiasm over the talks. PhD students who have attended the seminar found it helpful for their future research career, and teachers who are interested in book publishing got the chance to meet with the CUP acquisition editor face to face.
