Aiming at strengthening the communication with academic staff and students from Entrepreneur College, XJTLU Library held ‘Library as a Bridge: Library Visit to Entrepreneur College (Taicang)’ event at SC building on 22nd December. On the day, the Library met with faculty to offer an induction on library resources and services, and provided students with consultation service at Library Information Desk.
Librarians set an information desk at Northeast Entrance Hall, SC building where students normally gather to circulate library guides and provided one-on-one consultation to better support students’ learning and studies.
Meanwhile, librarians invited interested faculties to join a library induction which helps them to better clearly understand the library resources and service for teaching and research.
After the induction, many of faculties had a further talk with librarians about library issues they most concerned, including future collection development for Taicang campus, book requests, textbook ordering, etc.
Through the event, the Library knew more about individual demands from academic staff and students, and has the faith to provide more targeted support to Entrepreneur College in the future.
The Open Access Week 2021 Challenge has been successfully held. From 25 October to 7 November, more than 900 XJTLUers participated in the activity by completing the open access quiz. 20 Participants have been randomly selected to win a lucky prize!.
To better support the learning, teaching and research of XJTLU Wisdom Lake Academy of Pharmacy, librarians from XJTLU Library visited the Academy of Pharmacy on 8 December to provide deeper services about library issues through the activity of "Library as a Bridge".
Librarians showed the related materials of library services for faculty and students, and provided an opportunity to have face-to-face communication with librarians to answer the queries about the library.
At the same time, the librarians also raised an introduction session for the new staff of Academy of Pharmacy, showed the resources and services that XJTLU Library would provide for them.
We hope that by visiting Schools and acting as a bridge of communication, more students and staff will have a deeper understanding of the library's resources and services.
In order to strengthen the communication with faculty and students, librarians from XJTLU Library visited the HS building on 23 November to organise the “Library as a Bridge: Meet with Librarians at HS Building” event. On the day, librarians communicated with HSS students and staff to keep them up-to-date on library resources and services.
To better serve HSS members, Library set an information desk at the entrance hall of the HS Building to display and circulate library guides on databases, library workshops, book borrowing, intellectual property information service, etc. At the same time, librarians at the information desk communicated with students and staff to offer consultation services. During the event, queries on database use, inter-library loan service, desk copy collection, and copyright and fair use were raised most. To answer the queries, librarians provided live demos to ensure that students and staff could have a deeper and more accurate knowledge of library resources and services, which is hopefully being an assistance to their learning and research in the future.
