Using EndNote with Word
When Endnote has been installed on your computer, the Cite While You Write toolbar appears in Word.
There are two ways to insert references in EndNote, and I will introduce the first method below.
You can also directly select multiple references in EndNote, copy them, and paste them back into Word. The advantage of using EndNote to insert a reference is that if you insert a reference repeatedly in the text, EndNote will automatically recognize it and there will be no duplication.
Generally, the in-text citation is with the author's name and year. If you want to write it in the format like "Thomas argues that…," you can change the format.
Furthermore, if you want to add page numbers, you can do it here too by adding, for example, ", pp. 101-111," remember, DONOT forget the comma.
You are able to change the citation style by EndNote, like changing Harvard to APA. You can click Style, and select APA. This will update both the in-text citations and the reference list. If you can't find the style you want in the list, click Select Another Style. There are around 7,000 different styles available, so you'll likely find the one you need.
Once your manuscript is completed and ready for submission, it is advisable to save a copy of the document in Plain Text format, excluding any EndNote codes.
