Planting makes a low-carbon life possible

The National Tree-planting day, also known as Arbor Day has been held annually on the 12th of March, since 1915. This year the XJTLU library organized a fun activity to celebrate Arbor Day and to increase awareness about the environment and ecology by looking at the growth in plants and trees every day, and see how it impacts people’s daily life.

All XJTLU staff and students were invited to collect 3 different types of seeds, Sunflower, Tournesol and Morning glory from the library from 9th-14th March. They had to plant the seeds, and wait for it to grow into a sprout and then bloom in a flower. What a fun and interesting way to know more about the environment and the ecology!

Waste Management Week

1 1

XJTLU Library in collaboration with Rotaract Suzhou has organized a waste management event. One student from the Green Environmental club made a very impactful presentation on what waste disposal is, and how waste is classified into recyclables and non-recyclables. The participants also watched a short video on a town in Japan which is known as the town which produces no waste.

This activity is being held to increase awareness on waste management and how to sort waste into recyclables and non-recyclables. It was a short and sweet activity which will hopefully encourage students to be more careful when throwing their waste!
