To create an environment that meets the study and work needs of our campus community, library in central building north campus,balances these needs by designating areas as "Light Discussion", "Quiet", and "Absolute Quiet" zones. Study zones have varied noise levels and allow patrons to determine which areas of the library are best for the type of study environment they need.

Floor 1 is the main entrance and exit floor. This is a busy thoroughfare.
Interactive commons in room 153 is furnished with flexible tables and seats for cooperative group work.

The Library Service Counter is located at the 3rd floor. The nearer you get to the circulation desk, the noisier it is likely to be.
Library Training Room provides computer, projector and moveable whiteboard for users. Reservation can be made via XJTLU Room Booking system by staff for teaching activities (https://mrbs.xjtlu.edu.cn).

It is a busy desk for the installation of computer software and solving problems of self-printing, copying and scanning machines.

Printers, Photocopiers and Scanners are available for both XJTLU students and staff. Instructions on the multifunctional printers are posted on the walls to help users get their printing/photocopying/scanning jobs done efficiently. For any printer problems, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Food and Drink Allowed Area, Discussion Allowed Area locate on the 6th floor with relaxing furniture. This is the only area that food is allowed in the Library, it is also a popular area for students to have their team work and meeting for discussion.
Group Study Rooms aim to provide students and staff with space for group discussion upon booking. Each person can only book a room once a day. Booking is limited to a maximum of 3 hours for students and 6 hours for staff. Room booking can be done via Library Room Booking System (https://roombookings.xjtlu.edu.cn) and can be booked up to 7 days in advance.

Library Mobile Phone Zones are embedded in the Learning Commons. Comfortable sofas and chairs are located in these areas. The Mobile Phone Zone room features make it easy for students to make and receive calls without disturbing other users in the Learning Commons.

Learning Commons are intended for private study and research. Sofas and study tables are located in the Learning Commons. Tens of thousands of books are shelved in the Learning Commons to support learning, teaching and research. Dozens of popular magazines and newspapers are also provided for leisurely reading and relaxation.

Information commons provide computers that are installed with various software. Staff members may reserve the Information Commons for teaching activities via XJTLU Room Booking System (https://mrbs.xjtlu.edu.cn). The reservation notice will be found at the entrance notice board. The Information Commons are available for library users, first-come-first-serve when no teaching activities are scheduled.

Due to the 4th and 5th floor belong to the quiet zone, the behavior in the book shelves area on these two floors abides to the guidelines of quiet zone. However, the book shelves areas on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th floor are designed as absolute quiet zone.

The learning commons on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th floor are concentrated on the north part of the level. The entire upper levels except south corridors, and group study rooms are designed as the absolute quiet zone.
