XJTLU Library E-Discovery Week 2018: Home





 

 

 

 

The XJTLU “E-Discovery Week” contains some exhibitions, training courses & prizing drawing activities. All students and staff will be encouraged to join in.

E-Discovery Challenge

E-resource exhibition booths are set up at the Library’s main entrance hall, showcasing some featured electronic resources within the Library’s collection. Learn more about the resources and take part in the E-Discovery Challenge by scanning QR code on activity poster with ICE accounts and complete all the 6 questions about the resources and 4 searching quizzes with the assistance of event staff and volunteers and hints provided. Challengers shall submit their completed quizzes for the E-Discovery Challenge Lucky Draw, and higher score can raise your chance to win a prize.

The 1st Prize (1 people): Apple iPad 2018 (128G) The 3rd Prize (10 people): Starbucks Gift Card

E-Resource Training Workshops

The Library will arrange several e-resource training courses to introduce various e-resources and smart searching skills. Librarians and vendor representatives/training specialists will introduce the use of the designated resources and tips on smart searching. Participants will also have the opportunities for hands-on practice. You shall register online at Training Calendar or at the information desk of the event. After the E-Discovery Week, 2 participants will be randomly chosen to win portable power banks. You may join any number of these workshops to maximize your chance to win a prize.

InfoClinic

The Library will arrange InfoClinic in Discussion Area at the Library’s main entrance hall to solve any searching request raised by XJTLUers. Three information experts will deliver consultation services on site with three main topics: Finance & Business Info, Article Searching and Citation Management. Participants can bring their own research topics, or consult experts about FAQs on white board.

InfoClinic opening hours: October 8 - 11, 2:00pm – 4:00pm.

Select Your Desired Dissertations

“You select desired dissertations, library pays the bills”. Postgraduate students and academic staff can select your desired dissertations on ProQuest Dissertations & Theses database, and send the wanted list to the Library. The library will subscribe e-resources accordingly based on XJTLUers’ wanted lists. Please see the activity guide for more information. Activity deadline: October 18, 2018. 2 participants will be randomly chosen to win bluetooth speakers.

Off-site Activity

During the E-Discovery Week, you are welcomed to take photos at our photo booth using various photo props prepared by the Library. Upload your photo to Sina Weibo, @西交利物浦大学图书馆, add the topic #西浦图书馆eDiscoveryWeek#, and tell us your experience of library searching tools or databases, or your suggestions and comments on our digital collection development. Collect a nice gift at the information desk of the event by showing your Weibo post. Gifts will be handed out on a “first come, first serve” basis.
