HOW CAN I ACCESS LIBRARY CATALOGUE

The XJTLU Library’s Online Catalogue can be accessed from any on-campus computer connected to the Internet via https://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn. You may login by imputing your username and password (the same as the username and password for your university email account) and proceed to check your current holdings, due date, renew books, and reserve books. 

 

HOW DO I FIND THE BOOKS I NEED?

Use the Library online catalogue https://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn; Check the status to see if the book is available or on loan; If the book is available, please click the link “Locate this book” and then note down the bookshelf layout and book's call number to find the book you need on the shelf; If all the copies of the book you need are out on loan, you can reserve a copy.  

 

HOW CAN I BORROW AND RETURN BOOKS?

◆ You are encouraged to use the self-service machine located on Level 1, 4, 8 (XJTLU Library at SIP Campus) / Level 1 (XJTLU Library at Taicang Campus) to borrow and return items using your university ID card.

◆ You are also welcomed to take the items and ID card to the Level 3 Library Service Counter (XJTLU Library at SIP Campus)/ Level 1 Library Service Counter (XJTLU Library at Taicang Campus) to borrow and return.  It is your responsibility to know your books are due back. Fines are charged on the late returned books.  

◆ Do not pass the items you borrowed to other people or lend your card to other people.

 

HOW CAN I RESERVE A BOOK?

You could login the library catalogue system to reserve any book via  http://opac.xjtlu.edu.cn. When there are no copies available, you are allowed to reserve a maximum of 8 books. If reserved books are returned to library, you should borrow them from the circulation desk on Level 3 (XJTLU Library at SIP Campus) / Level 1 (XJTLU Library at Taicang Campus) within 7 days after receiving the E-mail notification; otherwise the reservation will be automatically canceled. HOW CAN I RENEW A BOOK?

You can renew your items if they are not reserved by anyone else. Log into "My library" on the online catalogue and renew your library items. For XJTLU Academic Staff, Administration staff and PhD students, the renewal quota is unlimited. For Postgraduate students and Undergraduate students, each item can be renewed 5 times. Please visit  "Using the Library" on our website at http://lib.xjtlu.edu.cn/  for more details.

 

WHAT IS THE FINE ON OVERDUE BOOKS?

If you return items after the due date you will be fined 0.2 RMB per item per day. 

If the book you have on loan is reserved by someone else, it should be returned by the due date. 0.5 RMB will be charged per item per day if the returning is delayed.

If the item on loan is lost, a new book with the same or new version should be purchased in place of the lost one, and 5 RMB processing fees are required.

For those who can not purchase a new one, a fine will be charged which will be twice of the item’s value.

What’s the Library Opening Hours?

Monday to Friday: 8:00~22:00

Saturday and Sunday: 9:00~22:00

For summer and winter holidays, the opening hours will be pre-announced via E-mail and be posted at the entrance of Library.
