Library in Central Building, North Campus

​Locations:

• Floor 1 and Library Service Desk 

Floor 1 is the main entrance and exit floor. This is a busy thoroughfare. The Library Service Counter is located at the 3rd floor. The nearer you get to the service counter, the noisier it is likely to be.

• Self-Printing, Copying and Scanning Area 

Printers, Photocopiers and Scanners are available on the 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th floor of the Library for both XJTLU students and staff. Instructions on the multifunctional printers are posted on the walls to help users to get their printing/photocopying/scanning jobs done efficiently. For any printer problems, please contact the IT Service Desk on the 4^th floor in the Library.

IT Service Desk

This help desk is located at the 4th floor. It is a busy desk for the installation of computer software and solving problems of self-printing, copying and scanning machines. 

Mobile Phone Zone

These areas are distributed on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th floor. Patrons are generally talking rather than working. 

Group Study Rooms 

Group Study Rooms (R314, R316, R318, R429, R445, R545, R547, R714, and R814) aim to provide students and staff space for group discussion within the Library upon booking. Each person can only book a room once a day. Booking is limited to a maximum of 3 hours for students and 6 hours for staff. Room booking could be done via Library Room Booking System (https://roombookings.xjtlu.edu.cn/) and can be booked up to 7 days in advance.

• Food and Drink and Discussion Allowed Area

Food Drink and Discussion Allowed Area is located on the 6^th floor with relaxing furniture. This is the only area that food is allowed in the Library, it is also a popular area for students to have their team work and meeting for discussion.

• Interactive Commons (Room 830)

Interactive commons at Room 830 is furnished with comfortable seating for cooperative group work.

• Training Room (Room 303)

Library Training Room 303 has 1 Computer, 1 projector and 1 moveable whiteboard, with capacity of 48 people. Reservation can be made via XJTLU Room Booking system by staff for teaching activities (http://mrbs.xjtlu.edu.cn/day.php).

• The Learning Commons

The Learning Commons are located on the 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th, 7^th, 8^th, 9^th and 10^th floor of the Library. Sofas and study tables are located in the Learning Commons. Tens of thousands books are shelved in the Learning Commons to support learning, teaching and research. A number of popular magazines and newspapers are also provided for leisure reading and relaxation.

• Information Commons

 Library Information Commons are located on the 4^th and 5^th floor of XJTLU Library. There are 174 Lenovo computers and 53 Apple computers. Staff members may reserve the information commons for teaching activities via XJTLU Room Booking System (http://mrbs.xjtlu.edu.cn/day.php). The reservation notification can be found at the entrance. The Information Commons (Room 463,416,516,563,529) are available for library user, first-come-first-serve when no teaching activities are scheduled.

• Book Shelves Area on the 4th and 5th Floor

Due to the 4th and 5th floor belong to the quiet zone, the behavior in the book shelves area on these two floors abides to the guidelines of quiet zone. However, the book shelves areas on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th floor are designed as absolute quiet zone.

The learning commons on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th floor are concentrated on the north part of the level. The entire upper level except south corridors, group study rooms and interactive commons is designed as the absolute quiet zone.
